GROUNDING OUR WORK AND FINISHING STRONG!

For Grounding our work and finishing strong we need to evaluate and reflect on our work. As you are in the last minute stages of your painting you need to ask yourself the following questions:

• Value - Are your values strong? Meaning do you have differences in values - Darks and Lights are very important in your composition. Tip: take a picture with your phone and turn it black and white and check the values. If you have too much light values you need to change it and create a balance.

• Contrast - Do you have interesting contrast? Check for differences in shapes, colors, values

• Marks, details - Are there interesting marks or details that can create interest, feelings, intentions?

• Composition - Is your composition balance? Watch where your eyes are going in the painting. Is it just going to one area in the painting? Or are you finding yourself looking at the entire painting. Is there some space for the eye to rest?
